How many faan is All Pungs?
All Pungs (All Triplets) contributes 3 faan in the HKMA reference and our game. The hand needs four Pungs or Kongs and a pair; none of the four sets may be a Chow. The pair may be any tile.
The sets may be exposed or concealed. You do not need to claim all four Pungs, and declaring a legal Kong does not spoil the pattern. A Kong occupies one set even though it has four physical tiles.
Worked example: why the result is 5, not 3
Three 1 Characters, three 2 Dots, three 3 Bamboo, three Red Dragons and a pair of South Winds form four Pungs and a pair.
Kept fully concealed and won on a discard, it scores All Pungs 3 + Red Dragon Pung 1 + Concealed Hand 1 = 5 fan.
Build it step by step
Separate the hand into four groups of three or four matching tiles, then one pair. A Kong occupies one meld even though it has four physical tiles. After confirming the shape, count dragon, seat-wind and round-wind groups, then check concealment and the winning method.
Common miscount: one Chow remains
If the 1 Characters Pung becomes 1-2-3 Characters, the hand has only three Pungs. It is still a normal winning shape, but it is not All Pungs.
A Kong does not cause this problem: four matching tiles declared as a legal Kong still count as one triplet-type meld.
All Pungs with Half Flush or Full Flush
All Pungs 3 + Half Flush 3 gives a pattern subtotal of 6 before other bonuses. All Pungs 3 + Full Flush 7 gives 10 before any cap; our game reduces that ordinary total to 8. Check the scoring guide for the reference table and payment rules.
Terminology can conceal different breakdowns. HKMA lists Mixed Terminals as 1 plus All Pungs 3, while our game uses a single 4-faan Mixed Terminals award and omits All Pungs. Do not add another 3 to that inclusive 4. A house limit hand also replaces ordinary scoring.

Do all four sets have to be called Pungs?
No. Concealed triplets count, and any legal Kong can occupy a set. The condition concerns the final four-set shape, not how many times you pressed Pung.
Can All Pungs and Half Flush score together?
Yes, when the complete hand uses exactly one numbered suit and honours. Their subtotal is 6; then check other eligible bonuses, exclusions and the table’s cap.
