Start with these ideas
- All four players share the current round wind; their seat winds differ.
- The house example has a South Pung in a South round: Round Wind 1 + Concealed Hand 1 = 2.
Reference values below follow the Hong Kong Mahjong Association (HKMA) rules. Worked calculator examples use our browser game’s house rules; check the differences before comparing results.
Round wind is shared by the table
A full four-round match proceeds through East, South, West and North rounds. The current round applies to all players. To score its wind bonus, your completed hand needs a Pung or Kong of that wind.
One round-wind faan, or two matching wind items
HKMA and our game award 1 for a qualifying round-wind group. The same group also earns Seat Wind when that wind is your seat. Exposing it does not remove the wind bonuses, though it changes concealment.
The saved house example is East seat, South round, South Pung. It has Round Wind 1 and Concealed Hand 1, totalling 2. There is no Seat Wind bonus for that South Pung until the seat is also South.
The round does not follow each winner
Do not change the round after every discard or win. Follow the match’s dealer and round progression, including any repeat-dealer rules. Use the displayed round rather than guessing from the current winner.
Compare seat and round separately
Keep South as the round and change your seat from East to South: the house result rises from 2 to 3. Change the round to West while keeping South seat: Round Wind disappears, leaving Seat Wind and Concealed Hand for 2.

A few things to know
Can a round-wind pair earn the bonus?
No. The wind-group bonus requires a Pung or Kong. A pair can complete the hand but must be assessed separately for patterns such as All Chows.
