Start with these ideas

  • Four rounds contain 16 dealer positions; repeats add hands, so the match is not fixed at 16 deals.
  • In this browser game, a dealer win or draw repeats the hand; another winner without the dealer passes it.
  • The final dealer must pass before the match ends.

Four rounds does not mean exactly 16 hands

Four rounds progress through East, South, West and North. Each round has four dealer positions, so there are 16 positions to pass. Repeated hands stay in the same position: four rounds can take more than 16 deals. The examples below describe this browser game, including its draw and ending rules.

Round wind applies to everyone; seat wind depends on where you sit relative to the current dealer, who is East. In an East round, the South player has South seat wind and East round wind. After the deal passes, seat winds change while the round wind remains East until all four dealer positions are complete.

The full-match mode starts each player with 1,000 points and uses the 3-faan minimum. Scores can fall below zero without ending the match early. These settings are separate from physical-table stakes or a different table’s agreed ending rule.

When the dealer repeats

The dealer repeats after winning a hand. If several players win the same discard, the dealer still repeats when included among the winners. The repeat count rises, but this ruleset adds no repeat-dealer bonus to the payment.

If at least one player wins and the dealer is not a winner, the deal passes to the next seat and the hand index advances.

Example: East-round East-hand, dealer wins → still East-hand. The next hand is drawn → still East-hand. A non-dealer then wins without the dealer among the winners → East-round South-hand. Three played hands can therefore occupy a single dealer position.

What happens after a drawn hand

If the wall is exhausted and nobody wins, the hand is drawn and the dealer repeats. There is no ready-hand penalty and no score transfer for the draw itself.

A hand can also end when no legal replacement tile remains during flower or Kong replacement. The result panel explains the draw before the next hand begins.

Final hand and ranking

The session ends after North-round, North-hand passes to the next dealer. A dealer win or draw at that point repeats the hand; the game ends only when the dealer does not win and the deal passes.

Final ranking uses the accumulated points after all completed settlements. Leaving mid-session does not settle an imaginary result; the local save is used to resume the same state in this browser.

No dealer multiplier, Kong payment, repeat bonus or draw penalty is used.

A few things to know

Is a four-round match always 16 hands?

No. There are 16 dealer positions, but a dealer win or draw repeats the current position in our game. Repeats add hands and there is no fixed match duration.

Does the dealer pay or receive double?

Not in our browser rules. Payments depend on final faan and self-draw versus discard win; there is no dealer multiplier, repeat bonus or separate Kong payment. Confirm these conventions at other tables.

Can the last hand repeat?

Yes. A dealer win or draw repeats even at North-round North-hand. The match ends only after a win that excludes the dealer passes that final dealer position.
