Start with these ideas

  • A Kong in the hand is not enough; the immediate Kong replacement must be the winning tile.
  • The house example is Dragon Kong 1 + Self-draw 1 + Kong Draw 1 = 3.

Reference values below follow the Hong Kong Mahjong Association (HKMA) rules. Worked calculator examples use our browser game’s house rules; check the differences before comparing results.

The winning tile must be the Kong replacement

Declare a legal Kong, take its replacement and complete the hand with that tile. A Kong declared earlier in the hand does not make a later normal draw a Kong Draw win.

The example has an open Red Dragon Kong, three Chows and a 5 Bamboo pair. Its eleven concealed tiles include the winning tile; the four dragon tiles belong in the meld area.

One event faan alongside self-draw

HKMA lists Kong Draw at 1 faan, and our ordinary house calculation adds Kong Draw 1 with Self-draw 1. The saved dragon Kong contributes another 1, reaching 3. House limit hands stop ordinary additions.

The cited HKMA rule resets Kong Draw eligibility when a flower is drawn before the winning replacement. The calculator does not replay the draw sequence: select the circumstance only when the actual sequence supports it.

Flower replacement and last normal draw differ

A flower is not a declared Kong. Our calculator rejects Kong replacement without a Kong or without self-draw. Its Kong replacement and final normal wall draw are separate options, so they do not score together as the same draw.

Compare a replacement with a normal draw

Load the example and keep self-draw selected. Change only the winning circumstance to Normal: the house total falls from 3 to 2, leaving Dragon Pung/Kong and Self-draw. At the default minimum the ordinary draw cannot win.

A few things to know

Does a concealed Kong also allow a Kong Draw win?

A legal concealed Kong can have a winning replacement too. The event condition is the immediate draw source; any Concealed Hand bonus must be checked separately because HKMA and our game use different Kong conditions for it.
